Caught between Soviet culture and western values, Ukraine is a country of surprises. My photographs add color to a government uprising, a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Chernobyl, and the majesty of the Carpathian Mountain range. If European travel feels predictable, traveling through Ukraine kept me on my toes in all of the best ways.
